Configuring Comserv

To make settings for Comserv, you can click on the Comserv Service Settings item in the ReMapPro Programs' folder (i.e., from the Start/Programs/ReMapPro menu):

With Comserv installed, the COMSERV window will appear on your display:

To configure Comserv, you should specify settings just in the same manner as you configure Comport. Additionally, you should control Comserv as a MS Windows service with the Service status box.

Note that with the Save settings button, you can store all settings you have in the COMSERV COM-Port tabs in the comserv.dat file located under the home directory of ReMapPro.

Also, there are some additional settings you can specify to customize Comserv. They are described in section The "[COMSERV]" Section of the ini-file.

The Service Status Box

When you press the Properties button from within the Service status box on the COMSERV window, the Properties dialog box brings up:

If you have a typical installation, many services are configured as Automatic (that is, they start automatically when the system starts or when the service is called for the first time). If a service is configured as Manual, you must start the service manually before it can be loaded by the operating system and made available for use. If a service is configured as Disabled, it cannot be started automatically or manually.

To configure how the COMSERV service is started, you choose the Startup type and press the Apply button. For example, Automatic will start up the service every time you restart your system. If you choose Manual, then you can use Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services of MS Windows to manage the Comserv's session (e.g., to start/stop services as administrator).

You can also manage the service session by pressing the Start/Stop and Pause/Resume buttons (with the COMSERV service installed), and watching the Service status field.

To start, stop, pause, resume, or restart a service, you can also open the Services window (clicking Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services), right-click your service, and then click Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, or Restart.

Pressing Cancel closes the dialog box (with no changes to the service properties).

Uninstalling Comserv

You can remove Comserv from the service list on your system by pressing Uninstall service from within the Service status box on the COMSERV window.

Also, you can completely uninstall Comserv from your system by choosing the Uninstall Comserv Service item from the Start/Programs/ReMapPro menu:

The following dialog box appears:

Click Yes to remove Comserv from the service list on your system and then restart your PC.

Note that you must stop all started connection channels (in the COMSERV window) before uninstalling Comserv.
